SYNOPSIS
To the oblivious eye, Lily has lived a seemingly happy and healthy life with her mother and father. Unfortunately, this idealized version of her family was never the one she experienced. Her father, Samuel, was an abusive drunk who tended to take his problems and insecurities out on Lily's mother, Alice. The abuse occurred in all forms and only grew more frequent and aggressive over time. This took a toll on Alice and her depression continuously increased, until eventually reaching her breaking point after a fight with Samuel. Lily overhears the argument coming from down stairs, but when she goes to investigate she makes a life altering discovery. In the bathtub lay her mother, wrists slit and lifeless. Because no one knew what Alice had been experiencing at home, no one understood the trauma causing her to take her own life. This aided in Lily remaining under the care of her father, who was a master at manipulating everyone around him into thinking him a saint . Overtime, she slowly began to take on the role that her mother left behind and became her fathers new target of abuse. Lily became depressed and emotionless, just as Alice had. But she has something that her mother never did. Strength. When Lily decides to take her future freedom and happiness into the hands of her own, she finally finds a way to cope with her reality. The story takes place inside of a clinic as Lily and her therapist attempt to work through her dissociation and make sense of her destructive childhood.
